I went to a small private college here, the only one in Hawaii that has a major in Interior Design. I did really love it, especially my senior residential class. We had to design, draw and "build" a home built for a specific lot here in Hawaii. We drew on AutoCad a full set of construction documents and build a scaled model from those. It was a great experience, i loved it. Some days i wish i could just design and build models all day!

About Me
Isla Schmidt is a 2006 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Chaminade University and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in Interior Design. With years of experience in both residential and commercial interior design as well as in retail management and visual merchandising, Isla is ready to strike out on her own with the creation of Isla- a design café and interior design studio. The concept of Isla is a small café offering organic, pre-made bakery items and beverages in a creative atmosphere where customers and potential clients can lounge, chat and feel inspired. Isla will offer full-scale interior design services including space planning, AutoCad based scaled drawings, furniture, material and color selections and operate as an open studio space within the café. The space will evoke a light, airy, incredibly inspiring, and colorful feel - with stacks of home made design books to thumb through, inspiration boards on the walls, vintage fabrics hanging and unique refinished furniture pieces throughout.
